1.Verifythepowerbutton.Thepowerbuttonisilluminatedwheneverthecomputerison.
2.Checkallpowerconnections.Removeanypowerstripsandsurgeprotectorstoconnecttheacpower
adapterdirectlytotheacpoweroutlet.
3.Inspecttheacpoweradapter.Checkforanyphysicaldamage,andmakesurethatthepowercableis
rmlyattachedtotheadapterbrickandthecomputer.
4.Verifytheacpowersourceisworkingbyattachinganotherdevicetotheoutlet.
Ifyourcomputerdoesnotrunonbatterypower,checkthefollowingitems:
1.Removeandreinstallthebatterytomakesurethatitisproperlyconnected.
2.Ifthebatteryrunsoutofpower,attachacpoweradaptertorechargethebattery.
3.Ifthebatteryischargedbutthecomputerdoesnotrun,replacethebatterywithanewone.
Apowerbuttonproblem
Problem:Thesystemdoesnotrespond,andyoucannotturnoffthecomputer.
Solution:Turnoffthecomputerbypressingandholdingthepowerbuttonfor4secondsormore.Ifthe
computerisstillnotreset,removetheacpoweradapterandthebattery.
Bootproblems
Printtheseinstructionsnowandkeepthemwithyourcomputerforreferencelater.
Ifyoureceiveanerrormessagebeforetheoperatingsystemloads,followtheappropriatecorrectiveactions
forpower-onself-test(POST)errormessages.
Ifyoureceiveanerrormessagewhiletheoperatingsystemisloadingthedesktopcongurationafterthe
POSTiscompleted,checkthefollowingitems:
1.GototheLenovoSupportWebsiteathttp://www.lenovo.com/supportandsearchfortheerrormessage.
2.GototheMicrosoftKnowledgeBasehomepageathttp://support.microsoft.com/andsearchforthe
errormessage.
Sleepandhibernationproblems
•Problem:Thecomputerenterssleepmodeunexpectedly.
Solution:Ifthemicroprocessoroverheats,thecomputerautomaticallyenterssleepmodetoallowthe
computertocoolandtoprotectthemicroprocessorandotherinternalcomponents.Checkthesettings
forsleepmode.
•Problem:Thecomputerenterssleepmodeimmediatelyafterthepower-onself-test.
Solution:Ensurethat:
–Thebatteryischarged.
–Theoperatingtemperatureiswithintheacceptablerange.Referto“Operatingenvironment”onpage

Ifthebatteryischargedandthetemperatureiswithinrange,havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:Acriticallow-batteryerroroccurs,andthecomputerimmediatelyturnsoff.
Solution:Thebatterypowerisgettinglow.Plugtheacpoweradapterintoanelectricaloutletand
connecttheacpoweradaptertothecomputer,orreplacethebatterywithachargedone.
