Attention:Thefollowingstepinvolvesremovingstaticsensitivecomponentsfromyourcomputer.
Ensurethatyouareproperlygroundedandremoveallsourcesofpowerattachedtothecomputer.If
youareuncomfortableorunsureaboutremovingcomponents,calltheCustomerSupportCenterfor
assistance.
Whilethecomputerisoff,removeallsourcesofpowerandexternalhardware.Removeanynon-original
memorymoduleaddedtoyourcomputer.Plugintheacpoweradapterwhilekeepingthebatteryoutof
thecomputer.Ifthecomputerstartswithacpowerbutdoesnotstartwhenacpowerisremoved,call
theCustomerSupportCenterforsupport.Ifthecomputerstilldoesnotturnon,consulttheusermanual
forothercustomer-replaceablecomponentsthatareattachedtoyourcomputer.
Ifthecomputerstilldoesnotstartup,calltheCustomerSupportCenterandaCustomerSupportSpecialist
willassistyou.
Spillsonthekeyboard
Withamobilecomputer,thereareincreasedchancesofspillingliquidsonthekeyboard.Becausemost
liquidsconductelectricity,liquidspilledonthekeyboardcouldcreatenumerousshortcircuits,potentially
causingirreparabledamagetoyourcomputer.
Ifyouspillsomethingonyourcomputer:
Attention:Besurethatnoliquidcreatesashortcircuitbetweenyouandtheacpoweradapter(ifinuse).
Althoughyoumightlosesomedataorworkbyturningoffthecomputerimmediately,leavingthecomputer
onmightmakeyourcomputerunusable.
1.Carefullyunplugtheacpoweradapterimmediately.
2.Turnoffthecomputerimmediately.Ifthecomputerdoesnotturnoff,removethebatterypack.The
morequicklyyoustopthecurrentfrompassingthroughthecomputerthemorelikelyyouwillreduce
damagefromshortcircuits.
3.Waituntilyouarecertainthatalltheliquidisdrybeforeturningonyourcomputer.
Note:Ifyouwanttoreplaceyourkeyboard,youcanpurchaseanewone.
Errormessages
•Message:0177:BadSVPdata,stopPOSTtask.
Solution:ChecksumofthesupervisorpasswordintheEEPROMisnotcorrect.Thesystemboard
shouldbereplaced.Havethecomputerserviced.
•Message:0183:BadCRCofSecuritySettingsinEFIVariable.EnterThinkPadSetup.
Solution:ChecksumoftheSecuritysettingsintheEFIVariableisnotcorrect.EnterThinkPadSetup
tochecksecuritysettings,PressF10,andthenpressEntertorestartthesystem.Ifyoustillhavea
problem,havethecomputerserviced.
