Enabling Remote Servers
Clicking on the Others button on the Proxy Setup screen opens the Applications Setup dialog box that
lets you set up support in the ProxyServer for any of the following applications: Telnet, TFTP (Trivial
File Transfer Protocol), WEB server, and dumb terminal management. Click on three of the check
boxes to unselect them, then enter the server password for the application that remains checked and
click on the OK button to display a dialog box to set up that application in the Proxy.
Telnet Server - is an applications level protocol commonly found in IP based networks that allows
terminal emulation at a remote workstation. To do this, there is usually a server at a central point that
allows multiple clients to connect and request to use the service. The service could be anything.
Usually it is terminal emulation. The ProxyServer has a built-in Telnet server that allows multiple
clients to view statistics information. Telnet is usually implemented over TCP. The Telnet server
enables an authorized Telnet client to remotely access the Telnet server to dial out, view ProxyServer
configuration and statistics, modify the ProxyServer configuration, or remotely modify the user data-
base.
TFTP Server - is a file transfer protocol that uses UDP and provides a simple method for transferring
files between two nodes (one the server and the other the client). The TFTP server is used for con-
figuration and firmware updates across the IP internetwork.
Web Server - The Web Server option permits a remote user to enable the ProxyServer’s Web Server
and then configure the ProxyServer using a web browser.
Dumb TTY - The Dumb TTY allows a remote user to connect to the ProxyServer’s command port for
configuration and management of the ProxyServer.
Statistics
Clicking on the Statistics button on the Proxy Setup dialog box displays a read-only Statistics screen
that lists the port number, its status, baud rate, total system up time, total number of calls, total
connect time, number of packets received and sent, and the number of bytes received and sent.
